What’s happening nationally? – There are no school updates from me today, as I have spent much of the last week attending two national CEO events.
Whilst things undoubtedly vary across the country, the issues we are currently facing within education in our schools and our city are definitely mirrored nationally. SEND / Inclusion, attendance, lack of funding, A.I. and cyber security, the new curriculum and the impending changes to Ofsted inspections. As we start to get to grips with the new Ofsted framework and the government’s response to the curriculum review, we are still awaiting the new children’s bill and the budget outcomes potential impact on our funding.

While we can’t change government policy or influence how Ofsted will now inspect, we can definitely keep up to date with everything that’s happening nationally. My senior LAT colleagues and I will continue to do everything we can to stay on top of everything that’s going on within education and we will continue to do our best to prepare for whatever the future throws at us.
Last few days of ‘Movember’! – So how are the moustaches looking as we come to the end of November? If you haven’t donated yet, now might be the time. At the time of writing this update, we have just gone over our original £1000.00 target, but any additional final donations will be most welcome.
At the top of the update you can see some of the moustaches in their full glory. Tash, from HR (very suitably named!) chose the winners and the results are as follows;
In 3rd place – Mr Kowalski
In 2nd place – Mr Spry
In 1st place – Mr Smithers. His very blue moustache is shown in a proper close up photo below.
A big well done to Keith, who wins the special LAT prize ….. of some razor blades!
The wooden spoon for last place went to Mr Lancaster, and if you read on through to the end of this update, he’s in last place in the fantasy football too, so it’s not been his best week.

The Times Table Rock Stars battle has well and truly commenced!
So how is it all going 2 weeks in?
Plaistow Hill are going for a third straight win in a row and they have got off to a fabulous start!
Hooe, Shakespeare and Prince Rock occupy the next 3 places, but Plaistow Hill already have a pretty big lead.
Watch this space for more updates.

MAT of the year? …. Or very impressive runners up? –
Next Friday 5th December we will find out who has been crowned, ‘Outstanding MAT of the year’ in the Education Today awards.
John Butcher, our ex LAT chair and I will be attending on behalf of the LAT.
Keep those fingers well and truly crossed and wish us luck!
Fantasy football news – We are now almost 1/3 of the way through the season, so I thought I would give you a bit of an update on how the LAT’s Fantasy Football league is going so far. The first screen shot below shows the overall top 10 in the league to date with the individuals named.
The second screen shot beside it shows what this looks like in a school sense and as you can see in this table, Elburton are ahead, as they have 3 staff in the LAT top 10!
The final screen shot shows the additional LAT heads competition, which is currently going very badly wrong … for someone called Cameron!

Have a fantastic weekend.
Simon
