Week 1 update – Happy New Year and welcome back to the spring term of 2026!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Welcome back to the spring term of 2026. I hope you have all enjoyed a fantastic festive break and that your first week back has gone well.

Although it may already feel like a long time ago, I am really hoping you found Monday’s LAT wide INSET day both useful and informative. Following on from Dr Pooky Knightsmith’s September INSET session on inclusion, belonging, mental health and well being, Monday’s morning session continued this work with all of our 18 schools outlining their work in a range of related areas and also offering a chance to tour the school.

In the afternoon, the LAT’s senior leaders enjoyed an additional session linking the above work to the new Ofsted framework and in a different location, the LAT’s central team also got together to focus on well being and building relationships.

I thought it was a fantastic day and an excellent way to start the term, but what did you think? Please let us know by filling in the form via the link or the QR code below.

The 3 pictures below show the morning’s gatherings at ELBURTON, HYDE PARK and MAYFLOWER respectively!

How was your Monday?

Was it useful?

The wonderful world of Knowle!

Ofsted are on their way to Knowle soon and the school is looking and feeling ready and absolutely fantastic.

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of touring the school and visiting every classroom. It was great to talk to the children about their learning, watch the teachers meeting the children’s needs and just to soak up the wonderful environment for learning.

Thanks to Ben and the Knowle team for showing me around and good luck when Ofsted call. Although you won’t need it, because you’re doing some really great things for your children and your community.

Have a great weekend.

Simon
