This week I had the pleasure of visiting the always inspiring Mount Wise. As a school that serves one of most disadvantaged communities in the city, it is always a real privilege to see the school’s amazing work first hand. On this visit I was struck by just how many children with different needs were being superbly supported by the school’s staff. The range of additional provision was a real joy to see and the school really are doing everything they can to meet their children’s needs.

For a school that has been put together on 3 different sites at 3 different times in the past, the environment looked and felt fantastic. The early years space was particularly exciting, as the children enjoyed their Dungeons and Dragons topic.

Mrs Allchurch, the school’s headteacher, is clearly living the dream and having the time of her life at the school. However, as I left her, she wasn’t quite sure whether she wanted to spend the rest of the afternoon in year 1 continuous provision or the dungeons and dragons castle!!!

And another big win for Prince Rock!
Earlier this week, Sam Upton, the international schools co-ordinator from Prince Rock, was invited to the Houses of Parliament in London, to receive the International School Award. The school have received this award 4 times in the past 12 years and it is a testament to the hard work and dedication of their staff and pupils to global learning and global citizenship. Well done Prince Rock!

Read your way!
The ‘Read Your Way’ home learning project is due to launch for all year groups (Nursery through to Year 6) in all schools the week beginning Monday 9th February until Wednesday 25th February.
It will run in a very similar style to ‘Maths Eyes’ which our trust schools take part in, bridging the October half term, with ‘Read Your Way’ bridging the February half term.
The focus for the English home learning project is ‘Reading’ as World Book Day closely follows our February half term and as you are aware, this year is the DfE funded ‘Go All In’ National Year of Reading – so, what better way to start this with our children!
